NCNW Excursion: Primitive Camp at Ekone Ranch

  • Ekone Ranch 401 Ekone Road Goldendale, WA, 98620 United States (map)

What is "going primitive?" Here it means exploring reducing the usual insulation, clutter, busy-ness, noise, and distractions while discovering a deepened connection to Earth. What might we discover without the usual tents, sleeping pads, camp stoves, phones, daily showers, even shoes? What can we find outside our known conveniences and habits?

Come on this adventure with Scout, who knows and loves this landscape of 1000+ acres. Held as a land trust, the place is filled with ponderosa pine and white oak; with night hawks, mountain bluebirds, wildflowers and deer; with far vistas, steep canyons and deep meadows; with acres of silence and miles of trails.

It also holds clues to what living ecologically and sustainably might feel like -- and how that might help sustain and strengthen us in a challenging time. We will rely on our small community of explorers: building capacity, resiliency, and delight in the simplest of activities together.

This Excursion does include immediate access to water, close proximity to cell service, certified Wilderness First Aid leaders, and is limited to 8 adventurers wanting to choose their own level of challenge.

Come and get hooked on primitive!
